For 97 years, St. Vincent de Paul Detroit has offered a free camp experience at Camp Ozanam to boys and girls from low-income families. Our camp adventure offers children ages 8-14 a respite from the challenges of growing up in poverty. For many, it is their first vacation experience, first time being away from home, and their first time experiencing nature and our Great Lakes.
Located on Lake Huron, Camp Ozanam offers boys and girls the opportunity to participate in traditional summer camp activities, and make new and lasting friendships. Since the first camping season in 1923, over 160,000 children have gone to Camp Ozanam.

About Camp Ozanam
About St. Vincent de Paul of Detroit, MI
Sometimes someone needs a helping hand, encouragement, friendship and hope to make it through the tough times. The Society St. Vincent de Paul Detroit has been reaching out, and helping those in need, regardless of faith, creed, race, social background, health or gender for over 134 years. All our welcome at our door!
We believe everyone deserves respect, compassion and care regardless of what zip code they live in or the circumstance that brings them to us. We stand for those who have been forgotten, excluded, and who don’t always have a voice – the hungry, the underserved and those who just need a friend or a helping hand.
Through outreach programs that include emergency services, food, clothing, utility and rent assistance, disaster relief services and a free summer camp for boys and girls, we empower people at critical moments on their journeys and help lift them from poverty towards a more stable path. Like that of our founder, Frederic Ozanam, our vision is to embrace the world in a network of charity to impact poverty through systemic change.
We are the today’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit, and we believe everyone should be able to See the Possible of a better tomorrow, and a brighter future.
